Asbestos
AsbestosAsbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous material that has a number of valuable properties including physical strength, resistance to chemicals, non-combustibility and good thermal and electrical insulation. These factors have led to its widespread use in the construction industry. However, when asbestos is disturbed or damaged, the fibres can be released into the air and inhaled, which creates a risk to human health. The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 were introduced in order to address the health risks. Property owners, occupiers and managers have a legal duty to record the location and condition of asbestos and presumed asbestos containing materials (ACM's) in non-domestic premises and the communal areas of tenanted domestic premises.
APA Survey Ltd are involved in surveying and identifying materials within a wide range of commercial and industrial installations. Surveys are carried out to meet the relevant legislation. Asbestos registers include all the required information as well as a risk assessment of asbestos exposure and recommendations for management of materials. If required, we can also produce a management plan of ACM's, based on periodic re-assessment of materials. APA Survey Ltd experienced surveyors undertake Type 1, 2 and 3 surveys in accordance with MDHS100 and comply with BS EN 45004. |
